少なくとも8人が死亡し、多数の負傷者が出た音楽フェス「アストロワールド・ミュージック・フェスティバル」を手掛けたラップ歌手トラビス・スコットが5日、ツイッターを更新し、「昨夜起きたことにひどく打ちのめされています。ご家族とアストロワールド・フェスティバルで起こったことによる影響を受けた全ての人々のもとに私の祈りが届きますように」と声明を発表。ヒューストン警察の捜査に全面協力しているとし、被害を受けた家族の支援を約束した。
ヒップホップ業界に大きな影響力を持つ米サイト「ＸＸＬ」によると、ヒューストンのシルベスター・ターナー市長が６日（日本時間７日）に会見し、現場では麻薬の過剰摂取を止めるための薬「ナルカン」が何度も投与されていたと明かした。
「観客が薬物を注射されていた」という情報をもある。さらに地元警察署長のトロイ・フィナー氏は会見で「昨夜（会場の）警備員が市民を拘束しようと手を伸ばしたところ、首を刺されたとの報告があった」と証言。診察を受けた時に警備員は意識を失い、ナルカンを投与された。警備員は意識を取り戻したが、医療スタッフは警備員の首に、注射された際に残る痕を見つけたという。
